What does Trauma informed mean ?Â
Finding stillness and calm in the mind and body in our busy lives is not a usual part of most people’s life.Â
By practicing yoga and moving purposefully connecting to the breath consciously, we can get in touch with emotions and body sensations, including those which may make us feel uneasy. This creates a full body and mind awareness. For people who have experienced past or current traumatic events this discomfort can be overwhelming and even be re-traumatising. Examples of a traumatic experience maybe an accident, loss of a loved one, illness or abuse.
Being trauma sensitive in my practice means all can be included This means my classes are led with compassion and by invitation rather than instruction or pressure.
Safety in classes extends further than body positioning.
